How we work

One visit. One plan. A team that can carry it.

Every engagement follows the same path. What we find along the way is different for every church.

  1. STEP 01

    A conversation

You tell us what’s going on. We tell you honestly whether we can help.

  2. STEP 02

    We visit

We come on site, sit with your pastor and leaders, and see a Sunday for ourselves.

  3. STEP 03

    The written plan

One plain-language document: what’s producing your results, and what to change first.

  4. STEP 04

    We train your team

We walk your leaders through the plan so they own it, not just read it.

  5. STEP 05

    Step back or stay on

Your choice. We hand it off, or stay on as advisors while the plan takes hold.

The written plan

One document. Plain language.

Not a stack of slides. A plan your deacons, trustees, stewards and staff can read in one sitting, and act on the next week.

Written PlanSample outline
  1. What we sawThe result you’re getting today, and the system producing it.
  2. What needs to changeIn order of importance, so you know what comes first.
  3. Who owns itA name beside every change, and what “done” looks like.
  4. What to leave aloneSome things are working. We’ll say so.
Questions pastors ask

Before we talk.

Will you try to make our church contemporary?

No. We don’t change your worship, your theology or your traditions. We work on how the church is organized, how it communicates, and how it raises up the next generation. A church can keep its hymnal and still have a volunteer system that works.

Do you work with our denomination?

Most of the churches we serve are Baptist and Methodist congregations. We respect your polity, whether decisions run through a deacon board, trustees, a church council or the conference, and we build the plan to fit it.

Can you preach for us while our pastor is away?

Yes. Preaching and teaching is one of our four areas. We can fill the pulpit for a Sunday, a revival, an anniversary or a season, with a message prepared for your congregation.

Do you come in person?

Yes. The work happens on site, with your people. We’re based in Durham, North Carolina, and we travel to the churches we serve.

Who will we work with?

Every engagement is led by a senior partner. If your plan needs specialist experience, such as media or youth ministry, we bring in a network partner who has done that work in a church.

What does it cost?

It depends on the size of the church and the scope of the work. We’ll talk about it plainly in the first conversation, before you commit to anything.

Let’s talk aboutwhat’s next.

“And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will guide you with knowledge and understanding.”Jeremiah 3:15 · NLT

Start with three things.

A partner will reach out personally. No cost, no pressure.
